As our time in Japan is wrapping up, we are packing in as much as we can. We lost almost a full week of exploring being sick, so we are making up for it now. Yesterday we took the train to Shinsekai, which is an area of Osaka similar to Dotonbori. It’s known for its street food, neon signs, overall charm and the Tsūtenkaku Tower. We got there early before most things were open and it was nice to explore for a bit without being surrounded by people.

It was fun looking at all the elaborate signs and the kids enjoyed playing some carnival games (which are everywhere in this area). As with most carnival games, they didn’t win but it was still fun.

We ate Kura sushi for lunch, which is another conveyor belt sushi place. Braxton really wanted to do this again before we leave Japan. This place was a little different. It had a revolving carousel that had items already on it that you could just grab, or you could order things individually too. It was delicious and so affordable! We ate all the sushi we wanted for a grand total of $17.34.

Osaka Aquarium
After lunch we went to the Osaka Aquarium. The aquarium was the best I’ve been too, but like most museums it made us all exhausted. It had a unique layout in that you rode an escalator to the very top floor and then the aquarium spiraled down around a center tank that had various huge fish, including a whale shark and giant manta rays. There were other attractions that included otters, penguins, coral reefs, jelly fish, and much more!

The aquarium was extremely packed even though tickets are sold on timed entry. Luckily the crowd thinned out the farther we spiraled down around the center tank. It was a long train ride home, and we were all exhausted, but it was worth it. There’s always something to explore in Japan!
