Field Trip Friday yesterday was a simple trip back to the beach. The sun was shining and we had our first truly blue skies. We are nearing the end of the rainy season here, but it can still rain off and on pretty regularly. It’s amazing how sunny skies can change the appearance of the water. It was even more stunning!

There is a plumeria tree (also called frangipani tree) as you enter the beach and it drops the most beautiful white flowers. Alexis and I enjoyed putting them in our hair and then watching them float away in the water. These trees are common in Guam and across the Pacific. In Guam, the flowers symbolize beauty, new beginnings, love and good fortune.

Our Own Private Aquarium
We took some goggles and snorkel gear provided by the Airbnb with us to explore the water. Once again, we were the only people on the beach and it felt like our own private aquarium! We plan to purchase some more snorkel gear and explore farther out, but even close to the shore we could see a variety of fish and coral.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen water quite this clear. It almost looks like glass and was remarkably easy to float in. I researched why, and it turns out the combination of higher salt concentration and warm, calm water are what make it so effortless.

Bringing Little Rituals to Guam
We enjoyed our first movie night in Guam last night – with local treats, enough seating for everyone, and throw blankets to snuggle up for extra comfort. The kids are currently enjoying a relaxing morning after eating pancakes for breakfast. It’s already feeling like home here!

Oh my goodness, Alexis, you’re so beautiful!!
Also, this beach looks like absolute heaven. I’m so jealous of you all just floating around and snorkeling, that is an absolute dream! Are there waves? It looks pretty still!
Glad you’re still doing movie nights this year! We just finished Hocus Pocus, Adrienne’s choice…what’d you watch and whose pick was it?
There’s a reef about 200 yards out and it creates a barrier. The waves break out on the reef, so the water at the shore is calm. It’s like a natural swimming pool!
I think keeping some traditions from home help us all feel grounded. Plus, it’s fun to try out all the local treats as movie snacks! We watched Dog Man – Braxton’s pick.
Oh my. That water is incredible!!!!
