Sri Lanka was a country we knew very little about before arriving and decided to visit mostly out of convenience. It was an easy stop over on our way to South Africa, and provided a culture we had yet to encounter. Although our experience here was difficult at times, I’m happy we came and I’m glad we stayed in Colombo. We got to truly experience a city that is such a stark contrast to our lives back in Colorado. If you can get past the oppressive noise and heat, there is a raw, unpolished beauty here. Even though there is trash tucked in almost every corner, we have been greeted with warm smiles by everyone we encounter.
Our experience here gave us countless things to be thankful for. Here is a slideshow of our memories from Sri Lanka and some fun stats about our time here.

From Asia to Africa – Our Next Continent Awaits
We leave for South Africa early tomorrow morning. When I told the kids we would be taking three separate flights they were less than thrilled. Luckily, our flights have not been affected by the current events in the world. We are looking forward to exploring a new country and continent. Africa, here we come!
