We leave tomorrow and I almost can’t believe we are here. To say this week was intense feels like an understatement. As mentioned in our FAQ’s, this adventure took about 6 months of slow planning. This week however, was a sprint to the finish. We are EXHAUSTED!
Pizza and Sleeping Bags

After movers came for our furniture we spent one final night in our house. We cooked frozen pizza and had to cut it with scissors because we packed all the utensils. Then, we slept in our sleeping bags.
Packing Up A Life In 10×20

The next and final day was spent cleaning and taking all the leftover stuff to our 10×20 storage unit. We sold the Explorer and said final goodbye’s to friends and neighbors.
The Hardest Goodbye

With an empty house and no cars, we rode our bikes to spend our last night with my mom. Riding along the bike trail, with the wind in our faces, Alexis yelled “Wahoo, Family Gap Year!“. I think we all felt relieved that we finally made it to this point.
The comfort of my mom’s home and one final familiar meal was exactly what we needed after this week. Saying goodbye to her in the morning when she takes us to the airport will be my hardest goodbye. For the last 8 years, she has lived only a few miles from us. She has been a constant in our lives that we will miss dearly!
Our bags are packed and our to-do list is complete. Here we go!
