Yesterday we visited the La Fortuna Waterfall. Numerous people told us this was a must-see while here. We were all excited to check it out!

We took our first Uber to get there and the experience was easy and cheap. There is a very manicured path leading down to the waterfall. You descend 500 steps through lush rainforest to get to the bottom. This alone was beautiful!

The waterfall itself is massive and no pictures seemed to capture its true size. The waterfall plunges 246 feet from the cliffs of the dormant Cerro Chato volcano.

At times you are allowed to swim in the crystal clear pool below the waterfall, but the current was too powerful during our visit. We were able to swim in the river portion. The water was clear, crisp and refreshing! From the river, you could climb the rocks to the base of the waterfall and really experience its power.

This is a popular destination and started to get super busy as we were leaving. The 500 step climb back to the top was easier than we all expected!
