Whenever we have vacationed at the beach, I feel an immense pressure to go to the beach every day and soak it up as much as possible. Being here for a full month relieves that pressure. Although I love the beach, I don’t feel the need to go there every day. I wonder how often we would visit the beach if we lived right by it full time? On the days we don’t go to the beach we’ve spent more time exploring the town of Jaco.
Artwork Around Every Corner
Alexis often comments about how everything is so colorful here, similar to the houses in La Fortuna. It feels like there’s artwork around every corner. We pass this building on our way to the beach and I appreciate its uniqueness. I really have no idea what it is, but I love the graffiti and the palm tree growing directly out of the patio area.

Dave and I see this old abandoned building on our running route. Again, I have no idea what it is/was, but I enjoy looking at it.

There’s a place called Jaco Walk Shopping Center that the kids and I explored one morning. The area is super cute and also very colorful. We plan to go back here sometime at night.

Even all the wildlife we see are often colorful!

Sunsets and Night Swimming
Fun fact about Costa Rica – it’s the same time zone as Colorado, but the sun sets at 6pm almost year round. This is because of its close proximity to the equator. We have enjoyed watching the sunset on our balcony, at the beach, and walking home from going out to dinner. The pool at our condo is open until 8pm and swimming after dark feels magical.

We have just under two weeks left here in Costa Rica before we move on to a new country. Dave and I are busy planning our time in Japan and beyond. We’re trying to soak up the end of summer and our time here, but also getting excited for our next adventure!

Night swimming is always magical! We did a lot of it when we were in Florida this year.
Can’t believe you have just 2 weeks left in Costa Rica!! It’s gone by so quickly (for me, lol).
