Counting Down the Days
We leave in less than a month and there are a lot of emotions swirling around our house. If problems were solved by over-thinking at 2am, I would be a professional problem solver. We are all excited for the adventure ahead. However, we have created a life here that will be hard to leave.
Dave has two more weeks of work. He’s focused on wrapping things up from a job he’s been at for almost 15 years. It’s been a terrific job.
Leaving Behind A Life We Built
We have made a lot of connections living in the same neighborhood since 2010. Our neighbors and friends are amazing and we will miss them tremendously this year. We also have family close by and want to spend as much time with them as possible before we leave. Trying to balance this with also packing up our entire lives is tricky. It takes a lot of time to pack a house, book flights, and decide on Airbnb’s.
As I slowly start to pack up our house it’s starting to feel cold and weird inside. We marked off the size of our storage unit in the garage. It’s somewhat like a giant Tetras game to see how we can make everything fit!
Navigating Uncertainty
As our departure date gets closer, the kids are getting nervous. It’s hard for any of us to picture what this year will look like, but even harder for them. They are just along for the ride and don’t take part in much of the decision making. Both kids have felt unsettled about our choice to do this. I knew that emotion was coming, but it’s still hard to sit in. For me, it feels a little like having your first baby. You’ve planned for it. You’ve read books about it and are excited, but you really have no idea what to expect.
I’m trying to follow the motto of “Be Where Your Feet Are” for the year. I want to embrace this last month in our home, where everything around us is familiar and comfortable. I’ll worry about the unknown when my feet get there.

Be where your feet are! 👏🏻
I love that motto! Its one I need to implement in my life.
Yes! Live and love that motto everyday. We’ll definitely miss you, but I can’t wait to follow your journey. We’ll keep the neighborhood sidewalks well traveled and ready for your return! 😊
Walking with friends is definitely something I will miss the most!
