For field trip Friday this week we visited the Osaka Castle. The castle dates back to 1583. It was rebuilt in 1931, but designed to still look like the original. The grounds that surround the castle are breath-taking and were a wonderful dose of nature we’ve all been craving. The inside of the castle is a museum with an observation deck on the top floor. This was not our favorite outing, but was on the list of top things to see in Osaka.

We enjoyed the long walk to and from the castle as we wound through the streets of Osaka. I never get tired of all the unique buildings and homes!

Shinsaibashi-Suji Shopping Street
Today we rode the train to one of Osaka’s most famous and lively shopping streets – Shinsaibashi-Suji Shopping Street. This street is right on the far edge of Dotonbori, where we explored a bit last weekend. We stopped at the iconic Glico Running Man sign for a picture before walking down the shopping street.

It was rainy today and the street was entirely covered which was nice. It was about 11am when we got there and it already felt busy. By the time we left about 1:30pm it was unbelievably overwhelming. We made the mistake of not eating when we first got there. There were long lines at every food stall, and we’ve found that it’s difficult to find places that can seat 4 people. We decided to skip the food this time around and just ate a late lunch when we got home. Alexis had a lot of fun shopping and found a super cute jacket. The style is unique here and she loves it!

100 Days of Adventure
It’s hard to believe, but today is our 100th day of travel! I wouldn’t have realized it if I hadn’t numbered my daily journal entries, but we were excited nonetheless. We have taken a picture each day that we have been gone, so I created a slideshow of ‘A Picture A Day for 100 Days’. I always love marking a milestone!
