A couple nights ago my dad and I went on a night hike through the rain forest. We saw lots of bugs and poisonous animals on the trail. We saw frogs, lizards, spiders, crabs, snakes, and a scorpion. We also saw a cute armadillo and a funny looking sloth. It was a really awesome experience!

Coral Snake
My favorite thing there was the venomous coral snake. It was cool because of all the colors. The tour guides would tell us about how cool the snake was and all of the abilities that it had to get its prey. Like it can rip right through somebody’s rubber boots and put venom in them. Although the people are not their most tasty victims. But they do love to eat the frogs and when there is a slope they hide on the inside of it and then they jump out when the frogs come down it.
Red Eyed Tree Frog

This is one of the most common frogs in Costa Rica. It is not poisonous so if you are looking for a frog to hold go to a place where it is wet and go at night.
Huntsman Spider

This is a huntsman spider and it is really big and I have never seen it in Colorado. It was the size of my dads hand!
Jesus Christ Lizard/Green Basilisk

This lizard got the nickname Jesus Christ lizard because people would see this lizard run on water and so they named it that but it is actually called a Green Basilisk lizard and they are super camouflaged in the leaves. They are also really cool to see because they are super hard to spot.
Scorpion

This is a scorpion and he is very small. I found him on a bench on the night hike. After he saw our cameras he froze. That was not good because I wanted to get a video of him moving. That would have been cooler and you could also see his stinger. It was cool to see the stinger because I had only ever seen a scorpion that had lost its stinger.
I hope I can do something like the night hike again and see different things. This was my first time writing on this blog and it was an awesome experience. I hope to write again!

Braxton! This was an awesome post! I loved seeing the pictures and videos, and I loved your explanation of each animal. I am glad you had fun! I would have been too scared to go(I dont like bugs, snakes, or spiders)!
Very interesting Braxton. Cool stuff! Your friend Thom.
Thanks I really miss you, you brought a lot of fun to the culdesac!!!
Braxton! I’m so glad you aren’t afraid of beasts like these—it’s cool to see pictures and hear about this from a very far distance.
Me again, I think you should probably host your own nature show. You just need a cool outfit and a catchphrase for when you spot a good animal…something like, “Mandibles!” (That’s if something is chewing). We can workshop this 😀
Wow Braxton what an experience!!
Grandma loved your blog, it’s so fun to read the experiences you have in your own words. I do hope you do more of them. All the creatures were amazing but I liked the frog the best..imagine that😁. I think I found the green lizard, and that snake is amazing!
Thanks grandma I miss you and can’t wait to see you in Texas!!!
So cool! The spider is larger than our Texas tarantulas but not as hairy!
This is Lincoln, I thought that the spider was very interesting and cool! And I miss you
I miss you to and maybe we can play Minecraft together over the time that I am gone!!!
Braxton this is so cool! Great job with all the pictures and describing everything! You’re a great writer!!
Hi Braxton! That was really good. The red eyed tree frog was really cute the spider looks really cool.
Braxton! I’m so glad you wrote about your night hike! I was wondering how it went. You were probably in heaven with all those creatures there! I would’ve been in tears after seeing the snake. How do people make sure they don’t get bit by one of those things?!
The tree frog was my favorite too! When I was younger, I loved frogs and had them on tshirts and notebooks and stuff. That vibrant rainforest kind especially. I’ve never seen one that close and not in a cage!
Your pictures turned out so good too! Did you use a camera or your dad’s phone?
Miss you guys! But I LOVE that you’re getting this experience!
That sounds really cool Braxton! I’m glad you’re having fun. -Caleb Hosner
Wow!!! Amazing Braxton!!! You’re so brave. I would never be able to do that. I’m terrified of snakes!
