We’ve had a busy week. It’s been a really fun last week of school, with a little bit of learning and a lot of fun activities each day. We had planned a walking food tour for our last field trip, but it got cancelled. So we pivoted and visited the Mercat de Santa Caterina, which is the local food market in our neighborhood. Dave and I celebrated our anniversary this week with a night out, and yesterday marked one month left of our year long journey.
Last Week Activities
The kids are accustomed to having a fun last week of school, so I wanted to create the same experience for them as we wrapped up our year of homeschooling. We had a pop/pillow/pj day and watched our favorite animated movie – The Croods.

We had a beach day, where we went to the beach and then got Las Fritas for lunch. This place has been on Alexis’ list for a long time. It was delicious and met all of her expectations!

For our final field trip we visited the Mercat de Santa Caterina, which is a local market right here in our neighborhood. There are over 50 food stalls with fresh local products and ready-made meals. I read that this is where the locals shop, so I was expecting prices to be slightly cheaper than the grocery store, but that was not the case. We all got a few things to try.

For the last day of school the kids completed a scavenger hunt around our Barcelona neighborhood. They had so much fun! Surprisingly it took them the longest to find someone taking a selfie, and a croissant in a bakery window.

An Anniversary Abroad
Dave and I celebrated 19 years of marriage this week! We had a great time celebrating with drinks, dinner, and gelato. Our night started at a bar called Stereo 18. The bartenders were from Italy and really fun to talk to.

We had dinner at a local place called SNOB and then enjoyed delicious gelato for dessert. Such a fun night!

One Month and One Million Feelings
Yesterday marked one month left in our adventure. I’ve had a lot of people ask how we are feeling about our year coming to an end. Our feelings are abundant, varied, and often fluctuate. We have feelings of excitement to see our friends and family back home, mixed with feelings of nervousness about how that transition will go. One moment I’m unbelievably thankful for all the time we’ve spent together this year, and in another moment I’m feeling like I really need some personal space. Overall I’m just feeling so very grateful for this experience and this family I’m sharing it with. Here’s to being where my feet are and soaking up one more month of this crazy adventure!

That scavenger hunt sounds like such a fun way to explore a city! Congrats on wrapping up the school year, I knew you could do it (and do it well!!). 👏🏻
